Burnt Bagel and ball [Mar. 6th, 2004|09:23 am]
[mood | tired]
[music |Alisha's Attic: White room]

Well i thought I would write a few words to say i am still alive and kicking. Not that anyone really cares.... News from the week.
Went to cinema on sunday evening saw "something has to give", the new jack nicholson film. It was ok I guess. Did like the bits of the old people getting it on. there should be some sort of law. Over 50's can not have any PDA's (public displays of affection!).
Week at work was busy as ever. Managed to fill the flat with smoke. I put a frozen bagel in the microwave. Now normally i press defrost--> 4mins start; however i must have been a bit tired cause i press 4mins start. A small but critical difference. went and sat down to carry on watching tv. 3:30 mins the plate the bagel was on cracked with a very loud crack. turned to see microwave pouring out smoke. Quickly switch off microwave and shut the door to the rest of the flat so as not to set off fire alarm. The bagel was black and smoking so i put it and the cracked plate it had welded itself onto in the oven with the fan on. Now the whole flat stinks of burnt bagel. had windows open etc. doing little good might get some air freshner at s's today.
And finally ball. Went to the pharmacy ball last night. Normally go with BUSAC but this year they were being miserable so went with some friends from Pharmacy. Paras and his crowd. Nick K-P came too so i wasn't the only non pharmacy in the group. Was held at the @bristol centre which is pretty swanky. Got some museum or summit down stairs. We were in a conference room upstarirs. Had nice balcony where you look over the @bristol site. Bar was a touch expensive but can't really complain. Cost acts as a good way to keep you soberer. Lots of very drunk people there though so that was quite funny and lots of pretty women too. As a group pharmacy women can scrub up quite well. And most women look pretty in ball gowns. Only real interesting/ funny event I can think of was a girl I know through some other people coming up to me and saying "Hi Robin (Here we pause for a second. Pretty girls don't as rule come and talk to me. Rather like the christians who can smell heathen and stay away, pretty girls generally can find someone else to talk to and i am just a blank space or some guy to get past to reach the bar. Anyway I digress. So pretty girl says "Hi Robin". Now this has me stumped A) pretty girl talking to me and B) she knows my name. Now to be fair i had not seen this girl for ages and so my recognition skills were a little rusty anyway back to the conversation) (I look blank at this point. Barrow furrows to show brain engage)d....you don't recognise me (Brain: nope I am trying. feed me more beer that usually helps...) ....(suddenly brain clicks: Oh it's sarah!)", "Hi Sarah. Sorry it took about a minute. How are you?....." Ok in hindsight not that funny but i thought it might entertain. Perhaps not. To be fair her house m8 came to say hi too and it took me a minute or two to recognise him to be fair I have only seen hi once.
Anyway that is a round up of my week's events. I am sure my reader(s) will feel full filled. Off to the ballet next week will report back on how it goes.

Milkshakes and pancakes [Feb. 25th, 2004|12:33 pm]
[mood | tired]
[music |Tenacous d: Tribute]

Andy suggested going to Bath CU event where there was going to be pancakes for shrove tuesday. Sounded like a plan since my cooking skills amout to oven on, food in, wait 20 mins, serve. He left it to the last minute to mention that there would be some sort of talk. Well you can't have any pleasure without pain so I decided to go. There was not any milkshakes butt they were serving an excellent bottle of 2003 7'UP. We have the suspicion they could smell heathan or something cause most of the CU people were sticking well clear of us. Oh well no loss. One guy bit the bullet and tried to convert me. Failed but he was very reasonable about it. The talk was ok even if it did delay the pancakes. Pancakes were nice (lemon and sugar (other flavours available)). No real gossip to gleaned.
Website news: planning to put part of my dive log in the diving section sometime this weekend and possibley my divelog file too. I would probably put trip reports here till I can think of anything better. Should be one about Stoney Cove here by sunday.
Car is now on 28000 miles and has finally asked for a service in .... 3000 miles! that makes mileage to first service 31000 miles. Madness!
Anyway work to be doin'
